The Uptown Cheapskate team is led by a visionary executive team that is passionate about franchisee success
Scott Sloan works alongside a talented team at BaseCamp Franchising. He is dedicated to helping people like you realize personal and financial freedom as they work together to build BaseCamp Franchising’s two resale clothing brands, Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate.
In 1992, Scott’s parents Brent and Shauna Sloan did just that when they packed up the family and moved back home to Utah to open the first Kid to Kid store. He played his small part early on: running flyers door to door, helping his mom carry loads out to the car, and helping manage the facility (a fancy way of saying cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and changing light bulbs). That first Kid to Kid store has since grown into a multinational brand with more than 120 stores in 3 countries. Scott saw first-hand the good and the bad that comes with business ownership through those first years, but those experiences seeded a desire to own his own business.
Scott’s role at BaseCamp has evolved over the years as he worked his way out of facilities maintenance and into administrative and marketing positions. In 2008, he realized his goal when he co-founded Uptown Cheapskate with his sister, Chelsea Sloan Carroll. Uptown set out to disrupt the resale industry by offering an upscale, hip environment for young adults to buy and sell fashion that didn’t feel like a typical mom & pop thrift store. In order to stay close to that vision for the brand, Chelsea and Scott still own and operate several Uptown locations together.
BaseCamp exists to help people like you work through that uncertainty by providing a proven franchise system that has been creating success stories for almost 25 years. Scott looks forward to writing a new story with future BaseCamp franchisees.

Director of Marketing
I am Amy Lofgreen and I am passionate about resale. I currently direct our amazing marketing team to help create world class marketing assets and systems for franchisees. My job is to make it easy for franchisees to market their business like a pro.
I have been helping build and strengthen the franchise since July of 2012. I originally helped to transform the way stores managed their product by developing systems to make running a store easier and to ensure the store was selling at capacity. Then I led the Training Department where we pushed the new systems out to the franchisees. Next, I moved onto the Operations team where we built a knowledge base about every aspect of running a store, built new systems to ensure every business consultant gave uniform and correct information to each franchisee, and in that process, was able to cut the time it took to train a new business consultant by more than a year.
I am currently on a mission to transform the Marketing Department into a world-class marketing service for the franchisees, provide upscale marketing for both brands and evangelize for sustainable communities. When not working, you’ll find me playing the piano, trimming trees and rose bushes, reading classics, watching TikTok, or hanging out with my family. My new Covid-19 hobby is rollerskating.
Director of Franchisee Support & Training
I’m a clothes junkie. I love them. I love how fashion is always changing and the unique way that a person’s creativity can shift an entire trend. When I was first introduced to our concept, I felt leery of the idea of used clothing. My previous experiences involved big box donation chains, where you really had to dig for a potential gem (and things smelled musty). I had no idea that such a thing as “upscale resale” existed. Years later, I’m a true believer in shopping resale first! My educational background is in political science, which I fortunately leveraged into a professional career in sales and business before coming to BaseCamp. My team’s job is to help franchisees excel at retail operations and business ownership, all while improving their bottom line. This is a fast-growing industry that positively impacts local communities and environments. Come change lives with us!
Director of Administration and Compliance
Joslin joined the BaseCamp team in January 2013 as Director of Kid to Kid Support, and is now Director of Administration and Compliance for both Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate, and oversees franchise standards and practices. From 2005 to 2013, she served as lead paralegal and office manager for the Utah office of Hall Prangle and Schoonveld, LLC, a Chicago-based law firm.
