Uptown Cheapskate franchise owners open up about what they love about their businesses
Uptown Cheapskate franchise owners are a truly special group of people. Day-in and day-out, they provide an incredible service to their communities by helping them save tons of money on hip, high-quality fashion – and without any of the shame typically associated with shopping for resale clothes. In fact, Uptown Cheapskate franchise owners offer their customers an upscale experience that is world’s away from the cluttered, messy and disorganized resale status quo.
In creating this experience for their communities, our owners also are incredible stewards of the environment, helping to keep thousands of items out of landfills every year. This passion for community, the environment and providing a tremendous value is best evident in our owners’ charitable actions on both a national and local level. Uptown Cheapskate is a brand with a noble purpose, and our franchise owners have the drive, passion, and enthusiasm to ensure that their businesses continue to grow – not only for their benefit but also for the benefit of the communities they serve.
What our franchisees have to say:
“It’s always been my dream to own an Uptown Cheapskate franchise. My brother and sister started Uptown Cheapskate 10 years ago, and I’ve always believed in this brand. We excel at providing a resale clothing experience unlike any other. There’s really no other resale clothing brand that gives consumers the like-new fashionable items they want, at the price they want, with the commitment to recycling that we do – it’s truly amazing how many items we get to recycle every single day – we’re talking bags and bags of clothes on a daily basis. We’re educating consumers that it’s OK to buy used clothes, that’s it better for the environment, cheaper for the consumer, and you can still look absolutely amazing.”

“I’ve never owned a business before, and I never thought I would own a business. When I first discovered the resale fashion industry, and learned how sustainable it was, as well as how popular it’s getting, I was very intrigued. The retail apocalypse is not affecting the resale clothing industry. People like the fact that we’re not putting new items into the environment, and of course, they like the fact that they’re getting a good deal. We have about 700-800 people every week that shop with us, and about 400 people that sell to us on a weekly basis. We were able to scale up quickly to multi-unit ownership quickly after the success of our first store. It’s been extremely rewarding, both personally and financially, and it’s a very fun business to own.”

“While we were looking into retail businesses, we came across Uptown Cheapskate and instantly loved the idea of creating relationships with those in our community. There is no better feeling than when you can provide great service and great products to appreciating customers. The fact that Uptown Cheapskate has almost no carbon footprint and helps recycle great items is just another positive to this equation.”

“The support is fantastic, you can make a phone call, and talk to whoever you want to. They are always receptive to what you are asking, and if they don’t know the answer they will find an answer for you. They listen to you and try to do the best for everybody. I think the technology support is fantastic, because I’m not a technology genius. I love that we have store visits and people come and help us. The whole concept in general is well thought out. There are always things that are going to change and we are going to be in that whirlwind of change, but it’s always been helpful. They look over your numbers and call you, it’s like they know your problems before you ask for help from them. I think the support is phenomenal.”

“We bought into the Uptown franchise because we believed in the system of reuse and recycle. Having a corporate office behind you gives you the peace of mind that all the tasking, technical jobs are done for you. The relationships we have built nationwide with other owners have been priceless. We’ve learned so much and our lives have been enriched immensely being a part of this community of entrepreneurs.”

The ongoing, marketing support for helping us create our entire marketing world that we’re focused on, to anytime there are issues training related, they are a phone call away or an email away.”
